{"id":47791,"date":"2021-04-20T12:11:19","date_gmt":"2021-04-20T10:11:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/efectis.com\/?p=47791"},"modified":"2022-01-05T10:55:27","modified_gmt":"2022-01-05T09:55:27","slug":"development-of-a-european-approach-to-assessing-the-fire-performance-of-facades-evaluation-of-the-fuel-source","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/efectis.com\/en\/development-of-a-european-approach-to-assessing-the-fire-performance-of-facades-evaluation-of-the-fuel-source\/","title":{"rendered":"Development of a European approach to assessing the fire performance of facades \u2013 Evaluation of the fuel source"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Efectis has recently carried out a series of tests to evaluate the fuel source to develop a method harmonized at European level to assess the fire performance of fa\u00e7ade.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a>A series of tests were carried out to evaluate the heat exposure of the test specimen, using different configurations of wood cribs according to their characteristics and using two type of fire exposure \u2013 high and medium exposure \u2013 in accordance with DIN 4102-20 and BS 8414 standards respectively.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since different parameters are used such as the amounts of fuel, type of fuel, shape of combustion chamber, and the ventilation conditions, and since extremely limited data is available on the heat exposure of the test specimen, it is not possible to compare the different test methods. Therefore, the choice has been made to keep the heat source and all related specifications as per BS 8414 series and DIN 4102-20.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The heat source has been installed into the same combustion chamber so that the impact of such environment on the fire behaviour is considered.
