UKCA & UK(NI) certification

Efectis UK/Ireland are delighted to announce the completion of our certification accreditation to ISO 17065 from UKAS. This gives Efectis UK/Ireland the ability to provide as Approved Body, UKCA marking on products that fall under the Construction Products Regulation 2020 -1359 CPR (EU Construction Products Regulation as amended by the Construction Products (Amendment etc.) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019 and Construction Products (Amendment etc.) (EU Exit) Regulations 2020) for the markets of Great Britain. The completion of the accreditation is the culmination of the team’s achievements throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

Efectis UK/Ireland will be working throughout next year to increase the scope of our accreditation to ensure that we can cover all required products under the UK-CPR-1359 giving also our CE clients access to the GB markets. With the extension of the deadline for CE marked products to 1^st January 2023, we will be working tirelessly throughout 2022 to ensure our clients have continuity of market access.

In accordance with Article 7(3), 1^st and 4^th subparagraphs, of the Protocol, Notified Bodies established in Northern Ireland may certify products on the basis of EU legislation made applicable by the Protocol, but the certificates they issue are valid only in Northern Ireland. By contrast, these certificates are not valid in the EU.

Where a product is certified by a Notified Body in Northern Ireland, the indication ‘UK(NI)’ must be affixed next to the CE marking or any other applicable conformity marking. Accordingly, the indication ‘UK(NI)’ has been integrated with the identification number assigned to Notified Bodies established in Northern Ireland. This distinct marking allows the identification of products that can be legally placed on the market in Northern Ireland, but not in the EU. Efectis UK/Ireland is listed as a Notified Body n°8003 for the NI protocol (see EUROPA – European Commission – Growth – Regulatory policy – NANDO ).

Thus Efectis UK/Ireland can help to access the market as :

• Notified Boby n°8003 for the Northern Ireland single market (UK(NI) mark),
• Approved Body n°2822 for Great Britain market (UKCA Mark),
• and is working with the other Efectis group Notified Bodies n°1812 (France), 1234 (Netherlands), 2184 (Türkiye) for the European Market (CE Mark), but also for many other recognition in the world.
