A new building dedicated to fire reaction testing has been fully operational since December 2025. It mainly has two SBI test benches that can perform more than ten tests per day in accordance with standard EN 13 823. Its layout allows for a sample life cycle that follows a chain: sample preparation, storage in a large climate chamber, fire testing and waste disposal without crossover.
This 570m² building has enabled the installation of a technical platform on the first floor. We have installed some of the small test benches dedicated to fire reaction, as well as a brand new platform dedicated to explosions. With these new devices, we can now qualify gases, liquids and solids for explosion. The entire building has also been designed to provide the best possible protection for our staff against occupational hazards.
The building is fully equipped with a centralised alarm system to detect any gas leaks on our test benches. We have also installed a smoke scrubber designed by Efectis (an innovative smoke cleaning system that will be duplicated in all reaction to fire laboratories of Efectis (UK, The Nederlands,Turkiye) at the outlet of the two SBIs, enabling us to significantly reduce the environmental impact of our tests. This building was constructed with our local contractors, but much of the equipment was also developed using in-house expertise.
With this new facility, EFECTIS FRANCE now has everything it needs to meet market demand concerning the reaction to fire and fire resistance whatever the domain is (Building, transportation, energy..) .
