Ventilation Performance & Air Quality in Operation – Measure. Understand. Decide.
Efectis is developing an on-site measurement service within its Efectis OutLabs & Ventilation team, dedicated to actual ventilation performance and air quality under operating conditions.
This service can support acceptance testing and commissioning, verify performance during operation, or investigate poorly ventilated areas, discomfort, contamination or changes in performance. These situations often arise from interactions between equipment, settings, usage patterns and site constraints.
Two questions guide each assessment
Does actual ventilation performance match the intended design? Are air quality and ambient conditions adequately controlled to ensure the safety of people and facilities, as well as operational continuity?
To answer these questions, Efectis designs a tailored measurement campaign and monitors the relevant parameters: airflow rates, velocities, pressures and air movement; pollutants or activity-related tracers (gases, particles, etc.); ambient conditions (temperature, humidity, etc.); and, where relevant, weather conditions. Results are analysed in the context of actual operating conditions to pinpoint deviations, understand their causes and provide actionable findings.
This approach combines on-site testing, physical measurements, engineering and laboratory practices. It brings a rigorous methodology into the field, based on a documented protocol—drawing on applicable standards where available—appropriate and calibrated instrumentation, traceability, and consideration of measurement uncertainties and limitations in interpretation. Depending on the requirements, Efectis can also draw on specialist expertise (sampling and chemical, biological or toxicological analyses) or modelling, with support from specialist partners where necessary.
This service is particularly relevant to critical environments and complex, occupied or operational sites: technical facilities, laboratories, data centres, public facilities and industrial sites.
