Watermist systems have evolved as an effective and innovative fire suppression solution in a wide range of settings, from private homes to industrial complexes. The dependability and effectiveness of these systems are crucial for preserving occupants’ safety and minimising property damage in the event of a fire. Undertaking comprehensive testing and compliance with relevant standards can ensure increased safety and reduce fire related risks in various environments.
During testing, the following parameters will be evaluated, allowing engineers and designers to refine the system’s configuration for maximum effectiveness.
- Nozzle performance testing for evaluating the performance of individual nozzles to ensure consistent droplet size and distribution
- System activation testing for evaluating the system’s response time and activation mechanisms to ensure rapid deployment in the event of a fire
- Flow rate and pressure testing for verifying that the system delivers the required flow rate and pressure to effectively suppress potential fires
- Heat and flame response testing for assessing the system’s ability to respond to various heat and flame conditions, simulating real fire scenarios.
Efectis UK/Ireland aims to achieve the UKAS accreditation for BS 8489 and BS EN 14972 watermist testing in 2024.
If you are an industrial concern, manufacturer or distributor involved with watermist nozzles and wish to test and certify your product to BS 8489 or BS EN 14972 standards to access the national and international markets, Efectis UK/Ireland can assist you by testing your products to those standards.
