From the 1st January 2021 a new Certification Mark will be introduced to England Scotland and Wales, the new “UKCA” mark (UK Conformity Assessment). With the UKs transition period coming to an end, CE marking will not be accepted. There will be a ‘standstill period’ which for most CE marked goods will last from January 1, 2021 to December 31, 2021.

During this time businesses are encouraged to be ready for full implementation of the new UK regime as soon as possible after 1 January 2021. However, to allow businesses time to adjust, CE marked goods in scope of this guidance that meet EU requirements (where these match UK requirements) can continue to be placed on the GB market until 1 January 2022 where EU and UK requirements remain the same. This includes goods which have been assessed by an EU recognised notified body.

Efectis are pleased to announce that we will be able to offer UKCA marking for the UK market (Efectis UK/Ireland is listed) and CE marking for the European markets (from other Efectis notified body located in France, The Netherlands or Türkiye). Specific rules may be dedicated in Northern Ireland, Efectis located in Ulster is present to help you.

UKCA will largely use the same technical requirements and conformity assessment processes that are currently used.
